How to Build a Top Dating Profile OVER AND OVER AGAIN

We've built hundreds of top dating profiles in a private dating coaching community called Digital Black Belt. And in this guide, we're sharing our entire process that we use to build top dating profiles time and time again.

STEP 1: STUDYING THE MARKET

Stop guessing and make data-driven decisions.

Most guys upload photos THEY think look good, not what women actually find attractive, and then blame the algorithm when they get no matches.

But we understand. Most men have never seen what successful profiles actually look like and probably are too lazy to find out.

Here's one way to see what works in the market, but it's not recommended because 1% already has a photo bank that accomplishes the below for you.

• Set up a profile with photos of your ideal type of woman
• Examine the profiles the dating app keeps behind a paywall
• Hinge is a good app to do this on. You can check the "Standouts" tab to see the profiles women have to pay to access.

Beautiful women get over a thousand matches a month. If an app makes women pay to access certain men, these men likely have top-tier profiles.

Study these profiles and take note of how the photos look like and how these men are portraying their value proposition.

One major thing that you might notice is that top profiles don't really use super high-quality photos that look staged. This is a common misconception that dating app photographers try to sell you.

A lot of photos that actually work look like they were taken from an iPhone by an amateur photographer. These photos show authenticity and the less staged they look, the more women tend to resonate with them.

You can also use Instagram to collect more data. Follow the money. Follow the fame. Look at how celebrities, influencers, gurus and coaches are portray themselves. People that make millions from their personal brands are trying to sell you a lifestyle so they're pretty careful on how they're portraying themselves to the world.

While these photos aren't necessarily validated on dating apps like the photos of top profiles, they're still valid to get inspiration from because there's no doubt that these guys are using Instagram to DM girls and get dates with them. I mean, this is what celebrities do to meet women, it's not a secret.

As you look through these top profiles and Instagram accounts, start building an inspiration board or a folder of photos that you like. Save them to your phone or a Pinterest board. Start forming hypotheses as to what kind of archetypes work and how they should be portrayed. In the next step, we'll be recreating these photo concepts.

Will we ever know 100% if a photo will work for us?

Not until we test it ourselves.

But this approach dramatically increases your odds of success. After building hundreds of top profiles for men, we've built a pretty good eye at identifying winning photos. With 1%, you can recreate these concepts with our image editors and get to a top profile quickly.

Prompts don't really matter that much until your photos start to get you some decent traction. Photos do 90% of the work—women won't read your prompts if your photos are trash. Once you start getting some decent matches, you can optimize your prompts and bios to get women to open you first.

STEP 2: BUILDING THE PROFILE

Now that we have a collection of photo concepts that are likely to work, we want to recreate these concepts with a photographer or an image editor and test these concepts ourselves.

Traditional photographers are becoming harder to justify. Good ones cost $3,000-5,000 per shoot for only ~10 usable photos. And they often struggle with candid shots and social proof photos since the lenses they use are such high-quality.

Plus, if you get unfairly exposed on the Tea app, you'll need completely new photos to rebrand yourself—that's another several thousand dollars out the window.

So, the best solution is to use an image editor. This is what 1% specializes in.

STEP 3: OPTIMIZING THE PROFILE

Now that you have your photos ready to go, you can put 6 of them together and launch a brand new dating profile or if you already have a dating profile running right now, you can swap out your photos one by one.

Most of the time, you won't create a top profile on your first attempt. You'll need to iterate.

Congruency, authenticity, candidness, social proof, and your value proposition play a big role in determining if the market is going to resonate with your profile.

You want to be brutally honest with your profile. Does it really deserve to attract the 9's and 10's?

You might even want to consider having another set of eyes to look at your profile, ideally from someone who knows what they're doing.

When you test new concepts, change one photo at a time. You want to keep as many variables as possible constant so you know exactly what works and what doesn't.

Focus on match quality, not quantity. Once you're consistently matching with 8s, 9s, and 10s, you'll naturally see more organic inbound likes coming in.

It's very important that you keep track of your stats. How many likes, matches, and high-quality matches are you getting per iteration. Are you improving or regressing?
