Face Scan Biometric Policy

Last Updated: Oct 14, 2026

Wingman Group LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates 1%, including the “Should I geomax?” tool at onepercent.dating/geomax. This policy explains how the tool’s optional face scan collects, uses, discloses, retains and destroys biometric data. It is our publicly available written policy for biometric data under the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (740 ILCS 14/15(a)) and similar laws, including the Texas Capture or Use of Biometric Identifier Act, Washington’s biometric identifier law (RCW 19.375) and My Health My Data Act, the Colorado Privacy Act, the California Consumer Privacy Act, and the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulations. For the face scan, where this policy differs from Section 6 of our Privacy Policy, this policy controls.

In short: the face scan is optional. We use your face photos and facial geometry only to score your face when you ask, we never sell them, we delete them from our servers as soon as your score is returned, and our AI provider deletes them within 30 days. You can withdraw consent at any time below.

1. WHAT WE COLLECT

Only if you choose to scan your face and consent first, we collect:

  • Face photos: a front photo, and optionally a side profile, that you take with your camera or upload.
  • Facial geometry: the positions of points on your face (such as the corners of your eyes, your nose and your jaw), found by face-tracking software that runs on your device, and measurements calculated from them (distances, ratios, angles and symmetry). This is a scan of face geometry, a “biometric identifier,” and information based on it is “biometric information.”
  • Results: the face score and written face report generated from the above.

We do not create, store or compare a face template or “faceprint,” and we never use your face to identify or recognise you.

2. WHY WE USE IT

Solely to generate your face score and face report, once, at your request, and to show them to you. We do not use biometric data for identification, identity verification, account or ban enforcement, advertising, profiling, or to train artificial intelligence models.

3. CONSENT

Before any biometric data is collected, we tell you in writing what is collected, why, and for how long, and we ask for your written release: you confirm you are 18 or older and that you consent by ticking two boxes (never pre-ticked) and tapping “Agree and scan my face.” That is your electronic signature. Our servers refuse to process a face scan without it.

We keep a record of your consent, which contains no biometric data: a random consent ID, the date and time, the version of this policy you agreed to (currently 2026-10-14), a one-way hash of your IP address and your browser type. If you verify your phone number and email for the face scan, we also note on your contact record that you consented and to which version. Consent lasts up to 12 months, or until you withdraw it or we change this policy in substance, after which we ask again.

4. WHO RECEIVES IT

We disclose biometric data only:

  • To Anthropic, PBC, the artificial intelligence provider that processes your photos and measurements on our behalf to produce your score, under its commercial terms, which do not allow it to train models on them;
  • To Vercel Inc., which hosts our website, as the data passes through its servers in transit; and
  • If required by law, or by a valid warrant or subpoena.

We do not sell, lease, trade or otherwise profit from your biometric data, and we do not disclose it to anyone else.

5. RETENTION AND DESTRUCTION SCHEDULE

  • On your device: your photos and measurements stay in your browser’s memory while the page is open, and are cleared when you close or reload it.
  • On our servers: your photos and measurements are held in memory only while your score is being generated (usually under a minute) and are permanently destroyed when it is returned. They are never written to disk, a database or our logs.
  • At Anthropic: deleted within 30 days of processing, as its commercial terms provide. Anthropic may keep data longer only where needed to enforce its usage policies or to comply with law.
  • Your results: your face score and report are shown in your browser and not stored by us, except your numeric score, which may be recorded in our product analytics without any photo or measurement.

In every case we permanently destroy biometric identifiers and biometric information when the purpose for collecting them (scoring your face) has been satisfied, and in no case later than three years after your last interaction with us, whichever comes first.

6. HOW WE PROTECT IT

Biometric data is encrypted in transit (TLS), is never stored at rest by us, and is accessible only to the systems that score it. We protect it using the reasonable standard of care in our industry, and in a manner at least as protective as how we protect our other confidential and sensitive information.

Security incidents. If we learn of a security incident that may have affected biometric data, we will contain it, investigate what happened and what data was involved, fix the cause, and notify affected people and regulators within the time the law requires (and without unreasonable delay). Because we do not store biometric data after scoring, the exposure from any incident is limited to scans being processed at that moment.

7. YOUR CHOICES AND RIGHTS

7.1 The face scan is optional

You can skip it and still get the rest of your report. Declining has no other effect on what you can use or what you pay.

7.2 Withdrawing consent

You can withdraw consent at any time, here or by emailing support@onepercent.dating. Withdrawal stops any further processing. Because we keep no biometric data after scoring, there is nothing else for us to delete, and we will confirm this to you in writing on request.

Checking this browser’s consent…

7.3 Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal data we hold about you, to access, correct or delete it, to obtain a copy, to withdraw consent, to limit the use of sensitive personal information (we use it only to provide the service you request), and to appeal our decision on a request. Washington residents have the rights in the My Health My Data Act, including to confirm whether we collect, share or sell consumer health data, to access it, to withdraw consent and to have it deleted. If you are in the EU, the European Economic Area, Switzerland or the UK, we process biometric data on the basis of your explicit consent (GDPR Article 9(2)(a)), you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and you may complain to your data protection authority. We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.

To make a request, email support@onepercent.dating. We respond within the time the law requires (for example, 45 days under California law, or one month under the GDPR).

8. AGE

The face scan is only for adults 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect biometric data from anyone under 18, and our scoring refuses photos of people who appear to be minors.

9. WHERE IT IS PROCESSED

Biometric data is processed in the United States. If you are outside the United States, it is transferred there to score your face, with your consent.

10. CHANGES

If we change this policy in substance, we will post the new version here with a new date and ask you to consent again before your next face scan. We will never apply a less protective policy to data collected under an earlier version without your consent.
